But she is walking a treadmill with two artificial limbs, one costing $127,000 for a state-of-the-art knee. She would be the perfect representative for a public-service campaign: What's your excuse for not exercising?

Edmonton Aging Symposium available Online

The Edmonton Aging Symposium hosted at the University of Alberta is now available worldwide via the Internet.  For those of you who are unable to travel to Alberta to attend in person, this is a fantastic means of exposing yourself to cutting edge research on all facets of life extension.

There is a plethora of speakers who are noted authorties on various facets of aging / life extension research. Among the speakers, Aubrey de Grey of Methuselah Foundation will be present, as well as Gregory Stock, of UCLA, and Daniel Callahan.  Doctors Stock and Callahsan will be taking proponent and opponent poistions on the desirablity of life extension.

Internet attendance is a paltry $5 Canadian.

More and more data is confirming what life extensionists have been saying for some time:   Longevity is on the increase in a dramatic way.  Longer lifespans are going to radically reshape our world's culture and economy much sooner than many might have thought.

The study:  Why Population Aging Matters: A Global Perspective,  was presented at the Summit on Global Aging.  The event was hosted by the U.S. State Department and the National Institute on Aging.

Researchers have determined that there are approximately 1000 genetic mutations linked to various cancers.  150ish of which are driver genes with the bulk being passenger genes going along for the proverbial ride.
