The Longevity Genes Project, initiated by Nir Barzilai, director of the Institute for Aging Research at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, which investigates people who live exceptionally long lives has determined that a single gene CETP variant which determines the size of your cholestorol particles may have a very large effect on the likelihood that you will live to 100.

Apparently smaller particles of cholestorol are more likely to lodge into the walls of an atery causing cardiovascular disease through plaque formation.
